I seem to recall that Franco wrote Zombie Lake as well, but didn't have time to film it as he was busy working on another film, so Rollin did it instead. Then for his next film Franco decided to rework his earlier Zombie Lake script and set it out in the desert.

Incidentally, are you aware that the Spanish release of this film was completely differant (ok, a bit different) and had differant actors for many of the scenes?

I was aware that the Spanish cut was different yeah. Apparently Lina Romay was in it, what else was different is something I'd be interested in knowing though. This cut was half arsed though it had to be said. I have one of Franco's films that comes recommended on it's way...should be interesting to see

This movie was one of the great disappointments in my film viewing past. I remember how excited i was running home to watch this, after seeing the video box cover, then sitting through this pointless waste of time! Franco should have been shot for this abomination. Still love the cover though.

i've been meaning to review some of Franco's better movies. I've been recommended one so that'll be arriving in the post sometime soon. happy days. hope you're liking the new series mate

I remember reading the film book Zombiemania and the authors of that identified the war movie as I Giardini del Diavolo or Heroes Without Glory (1971), an Italian war movie directed someone called Alfredo Rizzo.

Love the new series! It's amazing how over time, one really develops a soft spot for the more obscure titles. Even Oasis seems to have a certain magic ingredient to it now. Keep up the great work!
