how good is this running games
-
@shawn782 I currently use Visual Studio 2010 Professional and SQL Server 2008 Express on this laptop. It runs like a dream, but I always have it running it on high performance mode. The 13.3" screen is fine when you're out and about, but as soon as I am back at my desk I will use an external monitor (as a secondary) as I find there isn't enough vertical height to do any serious amounts of development on it.
-
But besides the touchpad (I just use a mouse) it is actually a really nice laptop - great battery life and performance. I plug in an external monitor and use it for gaming too i.e. StarCraft II on high settings.
-
I would have to disagree regarding the touchpad. I am using the exact same laptop right now, and it is the single worst touchpad I have ever used. It works exactly as a touchpad should, but it is flush with the palm rest area and it gets accidentally touched and clicked all the time while I am typing. I have never had this experience on any other laptop where the touchpad is slightly inset into the case.

this or ul30a-a2?
-
i have the A1 serious, but the wireless seems to be disabled. is there some switch to turn it on? I tried F2 and Fn but it only turns on the bluetooth

Anyone know if the "Green LED backlit panel" refers to the LCD monitor? I assumed it meant BACKLIT KEYBOARD. i researched and I guess it isn't supported on the Vt. i saw a pick of the silver keyboard which i have with backlighting vs the black keyboard w/ out. so i wasn't sure...
Max, I was thinking about getting this, tell me what you think after you have had it for awhile

Hey - thanks for the info.
I would very much like to know:
Do you find it noisy?
Does it get very hot?
Is the screen ok for outside use? (more light)
hrronnie 1 year ago
@hrronnie Not very noisy, doesn't get hot at all, I haven't used it under the sun really but the screen is very bright.

Is the ASUS UL30Vt-X1 or A1 better?
Jeradeth 1 year ago
@Jeradeth A1 is better since it has a bigger battery.
