While "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (aka "The Night Before Christmas") may be the most popular holiday poem, Katie Couric suggest an alternative by Robert Frost which may be more fitting for this year.
Twas the night before Xmas, the traffic was rife - I jostled with madmen and children, caught in the strife - "The spirit of Xmas", I exclaimed in a hoot - yet all those around me were almost dumb and quite mute - "Have you no gesture, no courtesy, no decency of mind?" - Alas it fell on the mob, with no affect to their grind - So I dropped all my presents and I departed the WAR, I grumbled and mumbled and considered for sure .... the impoverished are far better off, than this consumer maraud.
