The highlights clip from the 2011 Sunsmart Busselton 70.3 Half Ironman really builds in the lead up to the start of the pros race (at approx 1:10 minutes) so enjoy the show!
The 2011 Sunsmart Busselton 70.3 Half Ironman was held on Saturday the 7th of May in perfect triathlon conditions. Geographe Bay and the iconic Busselton Jetty provided a spectacular backdrop for the swim and run legs whilst the Tuart Forest and the coastal roads gave the competitors a welcome distraction from the enduring 90 kilometre cycle leg.
Tim Berkel led the male competitors home, edging out South Australia's Matty White and another interstate competitor, Tim Reed.
New Zealand's Jo Lawn continued her impressive form taking out the women's title. However, the crowd was treated to a surprise second place finish by Western Australia's Felicity Sheedy-Ryan who was competing in her first half ironman event. Third place in the female category was taken by Rebekah Keat.
Overall more than 2100 people took part in the event as either an individual or team.
A huge thank you goes to all the event staff and volunteers who make the Sunsmart Ironman 70.3 so successful as well as the people of Busselton who warmly welcomed all competitors and their support crews.
