  • jesus: crucified on a cross

Osiris: cut up into 13 pieces

    that is quite a parallel

  • You're fishing for specific dissimilarities; that does not discredit the similarities that do exist. Being "parallel" does not mean "exactly alike." There are some similarities and, when coupled together with other deities he parallels... there is not much original about the Jesus myth.

  • They both died. Yay. What a striking parallel.

  • Heh. Two months later.

You're a smart kid, Kabane, so you can't deny that the story of Jesus has mythical qualities to it. Where else does someone defy decay, rigor mortis, and death of brain cells to raise bodily from the dead?

  • Check out the paper on the details between the two at egyptorigins dot org. If you already have and still don't see it, then I'm just not knowledgeable enough on this stuff to convince you otherwise, which is a real shame.

  • Does anyone here that at least 5 major world religions (christianity, judiasm, islam, buddhism and hinduism) all stem from asia? (middle east is asia).

  • You can do that in the name of any number of gods.

  • its been two months. are you still defending this thesis that Jesus is a copycat of older pagan gods?

  • Horus did it. Now disprove it!!!

  • The problem here is that the commentator has forgot that Egypt came under the Hyksos rule during the middle dynasties. At this time an influx of people from Babylon, Sumeria would have came into Egypt. This would explain the parellels between the story of Tammuz and that of Osiris. Her comment about the underworld is accurate. The underworld was a resting place for souls not hell. Hell was the belly of Ammit.

  • so god will save random babies but he'll stand by and allow 30,000 children under 5 years old to die from starvation and disease everyday? wat a jerk
