Derek tells us a bit about the work that went into making the Spirit of Canada and some technical aspects of the Open 60 boat. Derek and the Spirit of Canada will compete in the 2008 Vendee Globe.
sailors have lost their connection to water. too much high technology-to keeps us connected to land! these floating apts that entomb us instead of the freedom of open boats! use no navigation instruments- instead learn what the primitive knew by instincts! a wayfinding techniques! refuse to bring anything other than whats legal- no internet- etc.!! the fear and aloneness-loneliness forces you to turn inwards!- only then can we know the true rapture of the wilderness of ocean.
You could, there's no limit by the rule, though it does not make any sense as you have to fit the boat in a box rule and fulfill stability requirements all along.
