June 17, 2010 - Rep. Joe Barton apologizes to BP chairman Tony Hayward for "shakedown" by White House.

Editors note: Joe Barton is an apologist for the managerial class that Tony Hayward represents. He hates workers, will not care if the Gulf workers suffer, get paid, or die. He does not live along the Gulf of Mexico and could care less about people losing their livelihood. It is more important to politically posture and shift the blame.

He ignores that companies like BP, Exxon and Dow ignored their responsibilities in past catastrophes.

  • Barton's a perfect example of a political PUPPET, working for the corporations, NOT for the people.

Not only does he deserve to be kicked out of political office but, with luck, he will never be allowed to hold a job of any kind in the USA again.

  • $20 billion won't even begin to undo the damage.

  • Barton knows who butters his bread.

  • Joe Barton is a busy man. When not legislating he's giving out handjobs to oil lobbyists. What a hooker.

  • It's all a bunch of crap. Fix the damn rig, clean the oil up, then play politician. I wouldn't last 5 minutes in D.C.

  • Weird coastal fauna series: Presenting the Texas Toady. Preferred habitat: under the corporate boot; typical diet: oil slush funds; range: entire Republican party; specialized adaptive traits: long, venomous tongue for sucking up, and also used for lashing out at competitors; also, slippery skin makes it difficult to pin down; predators: common sense, integrity, truth; present survival status: doing quite well, thriving, in fact, quite bloated!

  • Wonder if he would say that after we threw him in the oil soaked waters in the Gulf. I want to torture this guy!! HARDCORE!!

  • This same guy was my congressman at one time.

  • @Ddub128 Are you human?

  • @Ddub128 Your comments only reflect your political views.. Lets talk about the 11 Americans that lost their lives on the Deep Horizon oil rig. Shallow minds yield shallow thoughts. Racism serves as your motivation. Lets talk about Mr. Cheney and deregulation. Lets talk about Mr. Barton and campaign funding. Lets talk about a federal judge that chose to oppose a moratorium placed on deep offshore oil drilling until the concept could be perfected. Huh? Promote reasonable debate.

  • @Ddub128 Whenever human beings conceive, they build. During the process of building, they learn to control. BP conceived a concept that would allow them to drill for oil miles under sea waters. BP DIDN'T even think of the many possible consequences. It is clear that BP never took into consideration that an incident of this magnitude would ever occur. Why? Because BP didn't care. Now is the time to stop being selfish. The US is no longer a viable entity on the planet earth. Why?

  • @ground5443 Thank you. Why can't our fellow Americans understand his reasoning? For what reason would he choose to apologize for the wrongdoing of an international oil drilling company? He feels as if he has something to gain. In his attempt to steer the focus away from the GOP, he claims personal responsibility for his apology. MONEY is the root of ALL evil. Mr. Barton is evil.
