Ethel Merman and the cast in the title song performing "Hello, Dolly" live. Because of the ramp, when Merman moved around so far, her voice would all but vanish on one tape on one section, and on another section on another performance tape recorded from a different place. This is cleaned, remastered and edited together, by Tormented Artist Ink Studios (me, John Ellis), from a few tapes. Choice is her little ad-lib (suggested by director Gower Champion I suspect) to one of the waiters in the middle of the song.
Fantastic vocal lesson!

Superb editing job of a musical theatre treasure! This entry from jonthesYT brings us closer to dealing with the great unfortunate decision NOT to record the great Merman in the role. It's so wonderful to have Merman in character, singing in top form, totally Dolly and totally Ethel at the same time. Thank you!

Stupendous! Sublime! But I'm afraid the wobble has already crept in. Never mind--a treasure, a treat! Thanks, John.

Fantastic! Merman puts her personal stamp on Dolly Levi with her classic vocal "Mermanisms". Still singing at her vocal peak (was this 1968?) - no sign of the wobble that eventually infiltrated her aging voice. Wish there video - would love to see her strut, prance & patter around the stage to this signature song.
Thanks, John - good work again! Anymore Merman numbers from these tapes? Would love to hear her rendition of "Before the Parade Passes By". How about it?
