Wow. That Child prostitute song completely brought me down. I can't hear something like that and then just shake it off. That is gonna eat at me for a while.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this musical. I bought the cast recording and am in love with it. I hope to someday be able to see a production.
Oh, one other trivia fact. Apparently Liz Swados had a sign posted on the door of the rehearsal room saying, "Dear Parents, thank you for dropping your children off so responsibly so that we may work today. However, when they are in this room, they are no longer your children, they are my children. As such, please do not enter this space during rehearsals. I trust you that they are in good hands, and you can have them back later. But do not cross this threshold uninvited. Sincerely, Liz."
Bravo, my friend. I confess I haven't followed you vlogs as closely as I should, but this was marvelous. A few months ago, Audra (remember her from theater camp at Usdan?) copied the score onto a CD for me, and while I react to it differently now that I did when I was thirteen, it just evokes such a plethora of emotions and memories in my soul. I would have given anything to be in that show when it was still being workshopped down at the Public. Thank you for sharing this with us. Happy 2010!!!
