There is no doubt that Islamic culture has had it's golden age. Nonetheless, the scene was hardly as idealistic as this documentary tries to depict. Under Islamic rule, Jews and Christians were humiliated and persecuted.
I believe that in the first few centuries after the Arab conquest, Art and science flourished in spite of Islam, and not thanks to it. Later on, Muslim theology became more fundamental and more dominant, and the Muslim became uneducated, poor and backwards.
