@aaronrose83 I got points and condensors at a NAPA auto parts store, the part box reads SysteMatched Products for Johnson, OMC Cobra, Evinrude. No. on box 580 148. Bought this several years ago. Most auto or marine parts store can get what you need.

@GTweed0605 one more question, any idea what the micro farrad rating is on those condensers????mine need replaced and I'm probly gonna go with automotive condensers or just capacitors

@rory2895 I have mine leaned out as far as adjustment will allow and it uses a lot of fuel. Doesn't smoke but is a fuel hog. My boat runs about 25 MPH wide open and I guess it uses a gallon of fuel in 15 to 30 minutes. I have thought about going and get another motor, maybe a 4 stroke, but these old engines are hard to beat.

is there anything u can do to make my 1960 evinrude more fuel efficient
how much can i see this motor for? i just came across one and want to sell. need something smaller

@mpc1mil If the motor is running you can get a few hundred. If it is not running you might get the most by parting it out. Look on ebay you can get an idea on prices and part prices. These are good old motors but use a lot of fuel.

were did you get an ignition plug for the engine?

@xbecca25 The spark plugs are standard champion plugs. I have gotten plugs, ignition coils, points and condensor from NAPA auto parts stores. You can also find parts online at various marine supply houses and ebay.

my float keeps sticking in the carb and i keep having t fix it almost every tim i go out it is a cork float do u haveany advice does yours do that ? ithink its because the ethonol makes it swell up do they make reproduction plastic floats?

@rory2895 I have heard that your not suppose to use ethonol type fuels in these old motors. I have always bought non ethonol fuel. I have only had my carb apart once and really don't remember what the float was made of. I know some are cork, brass, or plastic. Don't know if there are replacement parts, seems like carb rebuild kits might have a float in them. You might ask a parts house what is included in kits. I would try non ethonol fuel first. I just got back from a lake trip, too.
