Hello everyone,
This is a Sunday afternoon recording of the Scottish traditional melody "Ye Banks and Braes" by Robert Burns masterfully arranged for the acoustic guitar by Tony McManus. I recorded it to check out my progress in learning this beautiful song. It is quite pleasing although I realize that I do have to practice more. I also get very nervous in front of the video camera...I don't know why.

I am playing my new beautiful Brunner B-Big. It is a grand piano of a guitar which I fell in love with when I visited Lukas in his workshop in September. I have had it now for a month and I cannot put it down!

The lesson I am taking you can buy and download from Stefan Grossman at http://www.guitarvideos.com It is a fantastic online resource! It is fun to have a personal video lesson from Tony McManus himself.
Please visit Tony's website http://www.tonymcmanus.com for the latest info about him.

I usually do not play other's tunes, but this has been a fun project, so I might post something more from Tony's repertoire in the near future...

  • staffan, great sounding new guitar! what wood is it made out of?

  • @sehnsucht77

    Hi!

It has a Swiss Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. 5-piece neck made of Honduras mahogany, ebony and curly maple. Ebony Fretboard and bridge. What is unique with it is that it has a "Flying Top" which basically means it does not have any bracing and that is what makes it sing!

    Best wishes

    Staffan

  • Bravo Staffan. I feel very happy about you and your new instrument. It sounds like a dream.

  • Great playing, you did a very good rendition of Tony's arrangement and the Brunner sounds so great, I own the outdoor one from Brunner and I love it.
