"Zwieg wants a call "taking him away". It doesn't work that way. If YOU want to change your life, YOU need to take control."

???

Have you ever tried living in Toronto? It's a horrible city. I'm surprised suicide isn't more of a passtime than it currently is.

And you put question marks after this comment I made earlier. Hmmm, very interesting. So I guess you think OTHER people should take charge of YOUR life.

Have I ever tried living in Toronto? I've lived here all my life. And hey, I haven't even committed suicide yet! It's not a horrible city, It's a great city. And there's endless opportunities to meet people.

Wow, that's some comeback. I'll bet they call you Einstein.

Typical Toronto hater.

Zweig's expressing alienation. It's goes a little deeper than not playing volleyball: it's about not finding people he can empathize or connect with fundamentally.

I'd really recommend watching the whole movie (Vinyl), and his other two films, before judging him on being lonely. I think he expresses beautifully the isolation - and desire to break the isolation - of living in an urban capitalist society.

Alan Zweig would be Alan Zweig, if here weren't alone. That's how it works, he'd be like everybody else "normal" out there.

Zwieg wants a call "taking him away". It doesn't work that way. If YOU want to change your life, YOU need to take control. You live in a city of 5 1/2 mil. And you're lonely??? Get out there and meet people!! Take a cooking class, join a bowling league, sign up for Parks and Recreation volleyball or basketball, try a dating service, volunteer your services, there's all KINDS of orgs that need volunteers. Do these things and you'll start getting the calls you're desperately hoping for.
