I've got all his early albums (on LP) and a couple of CDs too. I'll have to try transposing this tune for the pipes - or has anyone tried it already ?

I am Scottish and my family has been living here in the US for 4 generations. I long for the homeland of my ancestors, and I cannot wait to be the first to return permanently to the land I love so much. Caledonia, I shall return to you

Dougie I love your music, you are a credit to Scotland and the world has a gift in you. I hope to one day meet you and maybe you will let me sing Ready for the storm one day!

Thank you for posting this video. Great work! I saw Dougie in Edinburgh at Homecoming 2009. I am now a big fan.
Many Congratulations to Dougie for gaining his O.B.E.

Well done to Kathy Wilkie for posting this video on her Facebook page - and so bringing it to an even large audience. I lived in Arbroath and Lossiemouth during my youth - many years since - and I have a dreadful weakness for Scottish music. This song brings back so many very happy memories.

I am delighted that my little video is still giving pleasure and I must admit that I love this rendition, not just because I was there, but because of the warm singing of the "chorus" by the audience. In just eleven days Sussex goes to Caledonia, as I drive North for The Perthshire Amber Festival, where I hope to shake Dougie by the hand.

I have booked to see EIGHT concerts featuring Dougie in this year's Perthshire Amber Festival, 30th October - 8th November 2009, Now I just cannot wait to meet him & Lovely Jenny again. I popped into "Help The Aged" Charity Shop in Uckfield this morning and they are getting me a KILT! I only hope the weather in Scotland this November is mild! LOL

Looking back, I am really pleased I uploaded this lovely old song, as it proves that Dougie has just about mastered it now, after nearly thirty years of playing it. The rascal has cut out "I kissed the girls and left them crying" and for the more technical viewers on here, the percussive effect is Dougie tapping his foot along with his beautiful guitar playing. The more I listen to this, the more I enjoy the audience singing along with the chorus and I'm glad I didn't join in and ruin it! (LOL)
