After a night of alcohol, Emily and Felicia make a non-sense song parodying different languages.

Your logic is fallacious. It can be interpreted in either way. I am a mathematician and in symbolic format the statement can be written with either the existential or universal quantifiers. Therefore the title is indeed ambiguous. But since you say you intended the existential interpretation, I would just suggest more careful usage. Cheers.

I was the editor in chief of a newspaper. My qualifications are much more pertinent. I'm sure Noam Chomsky would agree with my assessment.

  • The title is How Foreign Languages Sound to Dumb Americans. The inescapable conclusions are that some Americans are dumb (True. There are some dumb people in every race and creed and nationality.) The other possible conclusion is that all foreign languages sound dumb to Americans because you feel we are all monoglot fools. What was your intended assertion?

  • @direwill For the latter case to make any sense, the title would have to have been "How foreign languages sound dumb to americans". Notice the words "dumb" and "to" are reversed. Since this is not the case, there can only be one correct interpretation of the sentence. (i.e. the former)

  • Haha this is one of those videos that I thought was going to be really stupid but I ended up laughing and replying it.

    Sorry for the handle misspelling.

...Or any of his other linguistic works that support your single interpretation assertion. Also I am a full-time writer with advanced degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science. So language, in a very exacting way, is in every aspect of my life.

Given the quality of journalism, your status is almost assuredly irrelevant. Analytic logic is not. As for Noam, it is funny you rely on a vitriolic anti-American who is used by tyrants the world over to support their absurd claims. Despite his obvious shortcomings, the symbolic logic is incontrovertible. You just can't admit you are wrong. I have logic on my side, including Chomsky. I would ask you to cite from his works on linguistic hierarchies, formal syntax, or any other of his

  • Haha they're adorable.

  • that was too funny i had such a blast i almost fell off my chair nice voices too
