As a kid, I can remember going to the drag races at P.I.R. (Portland International Raceway) with my motorhead neighbors. I remember it being extremely loud and permeated with the smell of burnt rubber, burnt oil and burnt hotdogs. I also remember those juiced-up radio and tv ads with the monstrous announcer voice that made me want to go in the first place. After racing in the short track mountain bike series this season (also at P.I.R.) and inhaling my share of dust, I felt I had cultivated my "race announcer" voice to the right level. I made this little video with some inspiration from the past. Three more Mondays left this Summer, only now, no burnt rubber, oil and weenies - just dust, sweat and beers. - ETK
