http://animcareerpro.com/blog - Explore the drawing tools in Flash and their functions. Shows how to create and manipulate Flash line work, convert line to fill and make thick and thin line art.

Exercises: (go to http://animcareerpro.com)
Download and open the file. Using the line tool, trace provided images. Convert the line to fill and give it a thick and thin line quality. (Feel free to practice with the brush tool if you have a tablet or cintiq). There is a variety of images in the file so take your pick, do them all, or scan in your own drawing!

  • The biggest differences (I found) is that Toonboom has an actual camera and a Z axis, it is easier to add inbetween drawings by switching to a drawing mode, it also has nodes (like Mayas' hypergraph), and pegs to group characters parts together. It's kind of a 2D/3D hybrid. Far more things to list here.

  • Helpful info. Thanks.

  • *sigh* I worked with Flash for 6 months on a Nickelodeon show.I found it a tedious and tiring tool for animation.Sadly I am having to re-learn now to expand my work horizons.Nice vids tho.How does toonboom compare I wonder?
