Aug 1 2010. I brought this puffer home today. I have placed him temporarily in a 2.5 gal. tank. I will be placing him in a 10 gallon and keep him secluded as he is a very aggressive breed. I will be introducing him to a fresh water setup and slowly raising the salinity .002 per week until I achieve a level of about .008. This is to help with growth, maintain good health, and influence color development. Plus this will enable him to live longer.

  • ok first of all no need for the language esp when ur have your species mixed up. Put the pipe down for a second and take notice that this is a FW hybrid, NOT the brackish cousin. This one only gets 2.5 inches in size. in a 10 gallon, he has exactly 7.5 gals of water in excess to what he requires which is 2.5.. I like to go atleast dbl what is recommended. Perhaps it is YOU who should have researched this species before making a stupid comment. Noob.

  • what the fuck is with you people thinking you can throw a GSP in a 10 gallon tank. DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PURCHASE A FUCKING PET YOU IGNORANT FUCK. I wish I could throw you in a 5x5 cell and watch you all day

  • @borgey420 The top message "ok first of al..." is directed to you. Puff Puff QUIT!!!! you're burnt son.

  • ur tank is so frickin small........

    20-30 gallons

  • @stickerz232 Actually, this species only requires a 2.5 gallong tank. This is not the Brackish GSP which get's up to 8 inches in some cases. These two species look alike except the FW variant has duller colors and is non aggressive. Infact he was punked down by my gurami.

  • haha hes not puffed up just full after eating. 30gal is the minimum for this fish. I highly recommend taking him to higher than 1.008 I keep mine in full saltwater and wat a differnce in color and behavior. Try wwwDOTthepufferfourmDOTcom for species info and care. Its a trustworthy group of puffer keepers who want to help disperse the beliefs that the LFS imposes. He will need a larger tank than 10g or he will surely be stunted and die.
