Florida hit by construction crisis 02 March 09

Construction spending in the US for the month of January fell significantly, as the housing crisis continues.

The southern state of Florida is feeling the downturn more than most.

Thousands of homes have been foreclosed and buildings sites abandoned, leaving investors and construction companies in the lurch.

I like Al Jazzera very much because of its fresh perspective on news stories from around the world and for covering stories and issues that are rarely covered by the major American television news outlets.

However, it is striking to me that at least 95% of the stories that they present about life in the US is negative or is presented with a negative tone.

As far as the economy goes, yes, times are bad here. But they are also pretty bad everywhere right about now.
