Majestically, the Pipes & Drums make their way towards the barracks' court. The Pipers and Drummers close to the camera, with "X" badge on the glengarry, being from the Royal Regiment of Scotland (created in 2006 by amalgamation of several Scottish regiments, the single battalions are now to uphold the traditions of the previous).
In the background, wearing light blue Tartan, the Pipes & Drums of the Royal air Force.

It's the Irish Guards, see my first post at the start of this thread for a full list of the massed pipes and drums. The contingent was split into two groups for the street parade, this is the first group, which consists of: 1 Scots, Dalhousie, Irish Guards, Capetown Highlanders and RAF Luchars. The parade was in Basel Switzerland as part of the Basel Tattoo. This band lead the highland dancers from South Africa, who can be seen at the end of the video. You can also see me in it too. ;)

Half of all the Scottish Islands are names in Old Norse. Only half in Gaelic. The MacDonalds emblem is a Viking Galley. Sure a lot of Pictish girls bore their offspring but who began dominating the culture and running the show. The Scandanavian influence in Scotland is still strong even today. Scotland is a hodgepodge of many cultures and has a history of violence up until the 1800's. Constant raids into the lowlands. Clan wars and division. The MacDonalds hung deBrus' tax colletors.LOL

Scotland was heavily dominated by the Normans during their conquests and latter by the English. Even the Gaelic language, as beautiful as it is, is not spoken other than in song and cultural efforts. Robert de Brus was a Norman (His very name is French). Sure his forefathers married into the royal Scottish line, it was a way TO GAIN POWER!!! Robert de Brus spoke French and the highlanders hated him. He tried to learn a few words of Gaelic to impress the MacDonalds but they laughed at him.
