@ControverScielthings crowley was no more than an heretic who was sensationalized by the media at the time probably because he pioneered the level of bombast. his religious upbringing was most likely the cause for his nature its well documented that children raised under strict circumstances of faith turn out serial killers or in his case pedophiles. heresy is defiance of religion however religion can be manipulated in such an way to accommodate guilt and remove responsibility.

Aleister Crowley was a man before his time. He did engage in some unnecessary things. However he was a spiritual, creative, and misunderstood man. Its true he was an Occultist but he was also a poet, author, and a mountaineer. As for the claims that he either endorsed or participated in the sacrificing of children: HE DID NO SUCH THING! If you read the footnotes of Magick in Theory and Practice, he will assure you that he did no such thing, but
some people in the world have.
