En el marco de una celebración tradicional y por ende, especista como es la Fiesta de la Vendimia, Defensa Vegana se hizo presente con la primera Olla Popular Vegana de Mendoza.
El menú consistía en quinoa, arroz y verduras cocidas con unas papas al horno bien condimentadas.
Hubo además, diferentes dulces veganos como postres.
Nos demostramos a nosotros mismos, mensaje que compartimos, que ser vegano es fácil, económico y apetecible. Valores que son los importantes para el número, para las más de 150 personas que hicieron fila para conocer la novedad.
Claro que el veganismo es una elección ética, pero mientras no demos motivos para que la ética sea masiva, los no humanos no se verán beneficiados porque la demanda de sus vidas no disminuirá.
Quienes se acercaron, venían con diversas expectativas. Un buen porcentaje: ninguna, sólo comer porque la comida es gratis y ello, es habitual en cualquier grupo animal, humano o no humano. Es instinto.
Otros, sabían que "algo estaba mal" en comer "carne". Algunos, también sabían que eran perjudiciales todos los derivados animales.
También encontramos grupos ya veganos o en transición al veganismo por la motivación primera y basal: EL RESPETO A TODA VIDA SINTIENTE.
Nos gustó el desafío, hemos sembrado la novedad del veganismo en una fiesta popular y como todos, esperamos que en bien de todos los animales, las semillas prosperen.
Les comentamos que estaremos haciendo ollas populares, porque entendemos que el veganismo como modo de vida ético que mengüe el sufrimiento y muerte de los demás animales, debe ser POPULAR y que TODOS Y CUALQUIERA DEBEN TENER EL DERECHO DE ACCEDER A UNA VIDA VEGANA.
Gracias a los que fueron, a los que nos siguen, a los que nos apoyan y a los que nos critican.

In a framework of a traditional celebration, as Fiesta de la Vendimia is (well known by its speciesist nature), Defensa Vegana was present with the first Vegan potluck in Mendoza. The menu consisted of quinoa, rice and cooked vegetables with baked potatoes. It was also offered different types of Vegan jams served as desserts.
We prove ourselves, message that we also share, that being vegan is easy, inexpensive and appetizing, important qualities for the more than 150 persons who formed a queue to meet the novelty.
Although being aware that Veganism is an ethical choice, we believe that if we do not give reasons so that the ethic grows massively, the non humans won't be beneficiated because the demand for their lives will not reduce.
Those who came around, came with different expectations, among them there was a big number of people who came just in order to eat, which is a common behave in any human or non human animal group (it's instinct); some others who came knew that there was "something wrong about eating meat"; and finally others came because they knew that animal products were unhealthy.
We met groups who were already vegan and others who, motivated by the RESPECT FOR EVERY SENTIENT BEING, were through the transition to become vegan.
We liked the challenge; we have planted the novelty of veganism in a popular festival, and as everyone, we hope for the good of animals that the seeds thrive.
We like you to know that we will continue making potlucks, because we understand that Veganism, as an ethical lifestyle which diminishes the suffering and death of the rest of the non human animals, should be POPULAR. We believe that EVERYONE and ANYONE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE AN ACCES TO A VEGAN LIFESTYLE.
