It's not HIS "Lovers Waltz." Molly wrote that.
-
It's pronounced Ah-SHO-kan. A fiddler friend with the Kentucky Symphony first played it for me years ago. I've loved it ever since. Pronounciation doesn't really matter with such a beautiful melody though, does it. :)

@darla797979 I've heard it with the emphasis on the second syllable.

Someone please settle an argument for me. My friend says Ashokan has the emphasis on the first syllable, which is promounced Ah. I say it has the emphasis on the second syllable and the a's are pronounced like in the word at. Which is it? Either way, we are both fans and love Jay and Molly!

@kittythefiddle ur right that IS lovers walz NOT ashokan farwell...

You never heard of Cambridge MN?
You've at least heard of St Cloud and Cambridge is about 40 miles east on MN 95, about half way to cheesehead land.

ashokan farwell is a song about camp asokan and i was there on a field trip yesterday and he came and preformed

I met them both and preformed with them!
The one that wasn't Ashokan Farewell was, I think, his absolutely gorgeous Lovers Waltz.
