The problem is aggravated by the nature of the spending itself. Once an agency begins to receive money, they have to spend all of it or else their budgets will be cut. Bureaucracies expand to fill its expenses plus a little extra to establish the need for more money. A climate of dependency for more money is created. As a public school teacher I see this first-hand. If the money were to stop, schools will close because our budgets assume the money will keep flowing.

As I look at the current state of taxes, what is paid vs. what is needed, it seems to me that overall the money is there, it is just being misspent. I think if we were to break everything down, we'd find there are programs that could be cancelled without taking funds from programs that need it, such as our public school system.
