This is a preview of some of the animated features which can now be added to exterior car objects for use with the licence-free openBVE simulator, available at http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk

These new class 323 25kV AC EMU objects are being created to complement the Birmingham Cross-City South v1.4 route, being developed at http://railsimroutes.co.uk

Animated features currently include rotating wheelsets including wheelslip effects, bi-parting sliding plug doors (albeit with some door sound synchronisation issues), and moving window reflections. Also shown, are animated features linked to plugin DLL variables, including windscreen wipers, head and tail lights, interior lights, LED destination display with flicker, and working pantograph. For details about how these features are implemented, please read http://railsimroutes.net/blog/?m=200902

To find out more about the openBVE project, and the animated object format, please visit the official homepage and forum at http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk

The class 323 is a joint effort between myself and Trainsimcentral: http://www.trainsimcentral.co.uk

  • Do you sleep sometime? That looks great!!! O.O Do you programming all that Features only for your Projects, or for OpenBVE Public next download? Go on! Great Work!

(sry for my bad englisch again :) )

  • @Elfin1988: Sleep? I hear that's something other people like to do. :P

I'm only preparing all of this for my own projects at the moment; once it's released anyone will be free to use what I've created though. I did create a specially cut-down, completely copyright-free version of the existing X-City South for inclusion with the Ubuntu version of openBVE though. :)

  • On reading my comment a second time, it sounds rude and boastful (at least to myself).... I never meant it to be so!

    Pardon me!

  • @apnargundkar: Not rude and boastful... Just bossy. :P I'll fix the 323's number when I get around to fitting the seats and other stuff inside the coaches.

I hadn't considered trying to animate the contact wire as a result of the pan being raised or lowered, although I have thought about contact wire and registration arm uplift on passage of the pantograph; I think it can be done but I've not had time to try it yet as I still haven't finished updating all the scenery.

  • Thanks Mr. Bowden, I'm glad you weren't offended! :) :D

Keep up the good work! Save the world from the menacing payware sims! lol

  • Answer- When its ready, most developers hate it when you ask questions such as 'when will it be released?' as the only answer is when it is ready

  • This is just simply AMAZING! Very realistic

(i myself am an OpenBVE train developer, and currently working on a new york city subway rolling stock that was built in 1954-1955 and retired in 1987)

  • @tiiuful this is a FREE trainsim thats made by ONE person , please be respectful to railsimroutes , he did his best to make this as real as possible . ( if you dont like this sim then comment somewhere else

  • NICE!

  • @mackbookprofan90 You need to wake up,because the train simulator is not real at all because there is no train shaking or real rail sounds.you'r physic is terrible!!

  • @JChan1026 if you think THAT is real, try train simulator 2012... OpenBVE has gone way downhill now compared to other simulator's... SO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE SIMULATOR COFFEE!!!

  • So, I guess this is never going to be released? Shame, because OpenBVE was a great program.

  • When this can be downloaded because I want it for my NWM.

  • what version is the openbve you are using?

  • just.

    amazing.

  • how to you go forward I got the same route and it is not working!
