Lucy Smith Matthews Capers Collier, aka: "Little Lucy Smith" (March 16, 1925-September 19, 2010), was one of the Golden Era of Gospel's most prolific keyboardists, songwriters, and singers. In addition to sharing organist's duties with Willie Webb of the Roberta Martin Singers, and occasionally vocalizing with the "Martins" during the mid 1950s, Little Lucy also formed her eponymous singing group. Their biggest hit was "Somebody Bigger Than You and I", featuring Gladys Beamon on lead, Sarah McKissick on a mostly static 1st soprano, Little Lucy Smith ("cooing" as a friend of mine put it) on 2nd soprano, and Catherine Campbell on alto. In addition to Lucy on the ivories, there was another Golden Era keyboard legend present on this recording, Herman Stevens on organ. Enjoy!
