Junior forward Kevin Hayes scored a pair of power-play goals and notched one assist to lead No. 1 Boston College to a 6-3 Hockey East victory over No. 11 UMass-Lowell in front of 4,226 fans at Kelley Rink.

The host Eagles took an early 3-0 lead and held off the River Hawks, who brought the score within one goal - at 3-2 midway through the middle period - to improve to 4-1-0 on the year. The win was Coach Jerry York's 917th of his career.
