BOISE -- The uncle of a Caldwell teen who was killed in a crash over the weekend is talking about the role text messaging may have played in her death.
Eighteen-year-old Taylor Sauer died Saturday night in an accident on Interstate 84 near Mountain Home.
The Marsing High School graduate was featured on KTVB last year as a Distinguished Student Award Winner, and was a student at Utah State University this year.
Regarding Saturday's crash, Idaho State Police say Taylor hit the back of a semi truck that was traveling slowly up a hill, and was hit from behind by another truck.
Just minutes before the crash, Taylor had exchanged Facebook messages with friends.
Taylor's uncle, Bradd Warr, says the family expects to take an active role in warning people about the dangers of distracted driving.
"We know that Taylor had done that in the past, and we know as a family that that probably or may have contributed to the accident," said Warr. "Unfortunately we'll never know exactly what happened. The family is very aware and very concerned about teenage driving while distracted, whether it be social media or texting."
Friends of Taylor Sauer will hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday at 7 p.m. on the softball field at Marsing High School.
The school plans to retire her number 32 jersey.
Her funeral is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. in the Marsing High School gym.
