An animation demonstrating incorporation of csound elements into povray. As the povray scene file is parsed, collision events are detected in the code and trigger the writing of elements of a csound score file.

  • @MohammedanVibration citing Youtube videos for capabilities of software is about as intelligent as using Wikipedia for a grad thesis.

Csound doesn’t have flashy knobs and actually requires the user to know synthesis, which yes, does make it useless for 95% of electronic musicians. So hm, you may have a point.

  • @MohammedanVibration BT - All That Makes Us Human Continues

That track was made completely with csound. Listen to it. Then re-read your comment. You will be BLOWN AWAY.

  • Hey, that's pretty cool! I bet you could figure out a way to generalize that so that it would make sounds based on the object and collision (e.g rocks would clack, bells would ring and at different pitches depending on size)

Of course I personally still haven't figured out how to use Csound at all... =/

  • CSound looks alluring because of its power, but having checked a number of Youtube vids with csound music, my opinion is it's not useful for whole compos. It seems to be at its best making short, percussive sounds like here

  • Awesome proof of concept - are we likely to see anything on a larger scale based on the same ideas?

Also, have you any thoughts on reversing the process - i.e., parsing a csound .sco file and generating a povray animation to accompany it?

  • goes by rather quickly, eh?

  • plain stupid...
