@ERuBI13 That's pumice stone, unfortunately I can't take credit for carving the nest you see there, I have done some of my own though. Pumice stone makes a good nest material if you can manage to seal it somehow, otherwise you have to add water to it everyday.

From all your vids, how come whn you dig queen ants up there are no other ants surrounding the queen? There should be heaps

@sheeshcodkabab The videos on digging up queens is during mating season in spring, the queens I find and show you in the videos are new queens that are digging their first colony....they haven't even gotten their first workers yet.

@sheeshcodkabab I figured that would be obvious. Do you know the stages of life of an ant colony? Young queens and male ants fly from mature colonies in early spring and usually all throughout the warm months of summer, depending on species. The mating sometimes happens on the ground or in the air, the mated queen lands, sheds her wings and looks for somewhere to start her new colony, in the case of the queens i located, this was in the soil. @sheeshcodkabab locate queens that are just beginning. I would never recommend digging up a mature colony.
