This is a pencil drawing of the Y-Wing fighter from "A New Hope". I used a Staedtler H pencil and copy paper for this project. The entire drawing took me about an hour and a half. If you have any comments or questions please leave them below.

Music: Ludwig van Beethoven - Fur elise and Richard Wagner - Ride of the Valkryies.

  • nice man! I draw as well, but I'm really wanting to take it a step further. currently I only draw things from the side and top, no other angles really. when I try, my drawings just come out bad. what are the methods you use to to draw 3D objects on an angled plane? it it achieved by experimentation?

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your comments and watching my video! I started the same way... I drew top and side views alot but my 3/4 or angled views sucked.... the method i used to unlock this mystery is learning perspective. Put simply... is you can draw a cube in perfect perspective then you can draw anything in an angled view. Check out some of my perspective tutorials and section drawing videos to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Best, Gordon
