Abbys are the best cats ever! They are loyal and friendly, like dogs, and very good with kids, even babies. An intelligent breed that can be taught tricks. I've owned several Abbys over the years - they're wonderful. The only down side I can think of is that, unlike other breeds, they don't like being left alone for long. We've been able to go on trips, but we have more than one so they keep themselves company. They pine after their human owners. Our mom cat cries off-n-on when kids r @ school.

@MrDeano324 If you research you will still likely not find a definitive answer. There are ancient Egyptian drawings that show cats that can ONLY be an Abyssinian, due to body shape, etc. However, you can also find other ancient Egyptian drawings that are definitely NOT Abbys. Those body shapes are a little more bulky, and are very similar to Maus. Most likely both were around at the same time. Studying Egyptology, it "appears" that Abbys were more highly revered than the Maus, but who knows?

@ReadingDrew, I forgot to say, it's not just a random question (although it sounds it, haha) it's that I'm very interested in Egyptology and would like a cat that fits in with that. Thanks again :)

@ReadingDrew, not to worry, thankyou for the reply. I will as you say, spend some time on the net and hope I find something. Thanks again. :)

Thank you much. I definitely will.

Is it these or the Egyptian Mau that the Ancient Egyptians uses to worship? Obviously you would go for the Mau, but I've herd that it was these. I'm not sure at all.

@MrDeano324 Sadly I have no idea as to the answer to your question, but I suspect some quality time spent on the internet might reveal an answer, apologies that I am not more knowledgeable on the matter and good luck :)

i absolutely LOVE this video! right now i have an Aby mix, rocky is shaped like an Aby, he has the eyes and good lord does he have the Aby personality! i keep an eye out at the local shelters for an Aby that needs a home. i'd rather save a shelter kitty than buy one.

They are great cats... my mum still has her Aby... and she's a lot like a dog!.. she follows her everywhere and just wants to be with her all the time... I'd say a very 'people-loving' breed, but fair point, if you can get a shelter cat then good on you... they're not that common though, but enjoy fun with Rocky!
