Here is the first half of my long-awaited video about the sony EX1 full-HD camcorder. This camcorder is the best camcorder I have ever used and is simply the best in terms of picture quality vs. recording time. The details you can see are amazing, and the tonality is hard to describe - almost movie-like with a sense of presence and involvement with the scene that make the camera become "invisible" when you experience it on the big screen in 24p! I highly recommend this camcorder to anyone interested in film or music video production and who wants a camera that is closer to the prosumer price range.

  • wHY THE HELL DOES THIS HAVE ONLY 181 VIEWS? wtf?!?!? This is the only good review, this should have at least 181,000 views.

  • @AgentJuly19903 Hey thanks! It'll probably get there eventually LOL!

  • MIne has 46hours on it yet the lettering on the rear is wearing off. About the only very poor thing about this camera. Everything else is superb as you clarify.

I took mine out today to shoot a rugby league game. Used both ND filters, left shutter off but closed the iris until it looked good as it has been sunny today. I set up a PP1 with high saturation as I love nice colour.

I use the e-FIlms adapter too with a Sandisk class 10 SDHC 32gb.

Is this camera yours or the college's?

  • @GanEdenAustralia Surprising that the lettering is the only weakness of this camcorder :)

I'll need to try the saturation adjustment with the PP, because sometimes that's what I want as well. I prefer to leave the shutter on with this camera because stuff gets a little too blurry for my taste, especially in 24p mode. I made this mistake on my first school project. I purchased this camera because I fell in love with the quality after experiencing it in school. I used this one for the project.

  • This probable was used on your other YouTube logo. Very very nice camera. Quality equipment is just a pleasure to work with, sometimes it lessens problems too. No mechanical drive should make very reliable. Interesting that you mention film. The generation after you will not, except when talking about antique video equipment. Great Sony Camera, and I like that you had to cut yourself off talking about it.

  • @AllAmericanFiveRadio Hmm...yes I am plagued with a rambling mouth aren't I ;)

And I thought I was hitting 15 min. at the end, but it was actually 16 and some odd seconds. The tapeless drive has its benefits when doing multi-camera for post sync because there is no worry about tape drop outs, which happened on one of my previous postings! It starts up instantly from standby so I don't miss the beginning of something.

That YouTube logo I had is quite old now in internet terms!

  • PS Rugby League is played int he states if you're into any sports. USArugbyleague (dot) com These fellas don't use shoulder pads either ;-)

  • @CameramanLink LOL. I'm sure there are other weaknesses. I've only had mine a few weeks still still early days in terms of my relationship with it haha. I may one day sell all my top end cameras and get the EX1R. Trouble is, there aren't many for sale in shops. :( Quality is excellent. I've edited the rugby league game in Premiere CS4 but its like taking forever to encode.....
