Hypercam can seem quite daunting to configure and record correctly, but the program itself isn't however. The main difficulty lies within the codec configuration.

In this how to, the configuration for both Hypercam and the Divx and Xvid codecs are covered.

  • you are mostly self taught for all this are you not? if so 10/10 for the vid dude.

  • yep entirely self taught, s'why there's gaps of knowledge here and there :]

i read your comment before the name of who posted it, and was surprised how someone thought i was self taught.. then i saw it was Jambo and considering you've seen all the early HTSFs (which were entirely trial and error recording wise), then it's no surprise at all :]

there must be hours of HTSF where i've rambled on about codecs/recording programs ;) especially the RE ones.

  • are you going to be doing this with fraps or snagit too?

  • the fraps one is up, and i'll try get around to snagit and camtasia ones at some point, though i'm not very savvy with snagit (though to be fair, all recording programs hinge around the codec setup except fraps).

  • sadly when i try and record metal gear solid with 30 fps and 1 full frame ratio the play back shows sync and large scene jumping, so im going to stic kto fraps unless you know how to cure this dude?

    thanks for these btw =)

  • the fps and frame ratio won't be the causes of that i think, it'll be entirely down to the codec yer using.. give divx/xvid a whirl, and failing that, try a windows media video codec :]

  • I really like Hypercam because of the Record Window feature, it adapts perfectly when recording games run through DOSBox ^_^ By the way, would you recommend any particular setting for the XVid encoder in order to record old PC games, like graphic adventures, perhaps Shadow of the Comet, Sierra VGA adventures and such?

  • Hey, since I see here that you have high knowledge of those recording programs....especially damned Fraps....is there any way with witch I could use Fraps and record vid's but with less lag, if you know what I mean, and those Fraps are taking huge amount of my HDD space....my proper question is...

Is there any posibillity that I have Fraps, so the Fraps vid's takes less space with high quality of the video? I need answers on this question as fast as possible.

    Thank you in advance.

  • I don't have Divx nor Xvid on the list. Also the videos run either too fast or too slow, any way to set the playback speed to be just like the recording?

  • @anu7ho i got the answer I just didn't have divx, after that it goes half the time it used to go!

  • thanks a lot OTG was having problems importing them into vegas but all i needed was the k lite codec pack x64

  • @nintendo1889x Check my video on my channel, It solves the problem you are having. Hypercam 2 btw....Check it out message me if anything.

  • @anu7ho Not always, it takes me like 10 min for a 4min video, Check your internet speed, or the length of your video.

  • So, I'm trying to record videos at ~60FPS and the audio continuously gets way out of sync (the playback is too fast), what am I doing wrong?

  • yay more OTG!

  • uploading the hyper cam video to youtube takes so much time
