Please read ALL before leaving nasty rude comments...This horse's name isnt Overdrive for no reason. He is VERY high strung, as you can see, and I am the one who actually knocked some sense into his head. Trust me, he was ALOT worse! This video was taken with only ONE week of barrel training! I dunno about you, but I thought that he did pretty darn good! Yes, this was back in June, but now we are ALOT better! He isnt gate sour anymore, and as you can see, that was our major problem. I do hope that I will continue to barrel race him and possibly when he gets better, go to a rodeo. That would seriously mean ALOT to me. I love Odie very much.

  • you should try a martingale on him or a tie down, its really gonna make him made, but it will help you control his head and help him get more of an arc. :D

  • @monker08 i did use a tie down. it actually helped...haha. but now all my ppl are telling me to use a hackmore on him so he can stop. he's good throughout the pattern now, but he will not stop. so im gonna see how this is going to go. i did train him to drop his head and flex at the poll when i need his attention. and o-m-g. he looks gorgeous in the show ring! you can see his arabian in there.

  • My barrel horse used to be an old bag, no one could ride her anywhere without her rearing up, and bucking, throwing her head etc. But in the summer i was determined to knock some sence in to her, and i worked with her everyday, rode her everyday and everywhere, got bucked off a couple times. But now she is exellent! So calm, and sweet. :)

  • aaw!! that's good. really it takes time to get them where you want them to do...that's good to hear that you accomplished her tho...good job! post a video if you can. i wanna see her..

  • Great job with him I have a friend that bought a horse that acted like this and with lots of time they became AMAZING!!! Keep it up way to stay with him.

  • Oh yea, definitely! We are so much better now! I took him to the fair this past year for abut 4 days and we did GREAT! it just takes time and lots of patience.

  • @TheyCallMeRodeo so i got to the back barrel first? i always thought you go to either to the front right or front left first...since its a cloverleaf pattern. i always did this pattern and i never got disqualified...and if you break pattern, you get disqualified...hmmmmmm

  • @kmich210 NOOOOO!!! hackamores dont give you more breaks. they are actually for lighter headed horses. A fast stop or quick stop bridle is amazing and will stop any horse. also a o-ring combination hackamore and snaffle bit will do wonders. but hackamores dont give you more control. :)

  • you did really good with him. Great job for his first time. Im taking my horse to our first show this weekend, sooo exciting cant wait, thank you for sharing... XD

  • @kmich210 Yeah. Thanks :) I would love to post a vid of her, but i dont know how, and my parents probly wouldnt want me to. But i have pics of her on my channel. :D
