Not a fan of this version. A little too much comic relief where unnecessary.

Dumb as a fucking post!
-
this is like the 70's
-
Tear jerker! I can hardly see the screen through my tears.

I do not care for Melissa gilbert's portrayel of helen. I think she is far to old for the part and she really doesn't seem to capture the character at all. honestly none of the actors do.

I like both movies equally. I find it very interesting to compare the two version and how the actresses interpret their roles. There was actually an earlier version on TV before the '62 movie with Patty McCormack portraying Helen.

@prettypioneer Yes I agree with you. This version is not good.Melissa gilbert was too old and too tall,as tall as Annie,it isn't credible at all!Real helen was supposed to be 6 years and a half.Melissa gilbert was a better laura but a mean Helen.Sorry for the other people.

I like this version (even though the original was much better), this version isn't all that bad
-
@LadyMisfitAngel That's because they are both based on the same stage play.

Wow this is almost word-for-word of the Anne Bancroft (sp?) and Patty Duke version
The 1962 version was filmed in b/w for a reason: the dramatic effect and the underlying point of the story. Also, notice how in the 1962 version there are no pictures on the walls of the Keller house. All of this was carefully thought out for the symbolic meaning of living with limited sight for Annie and sightlessness for Helen. The set decorator and the cinematographer deliberately made these choices to advance the theme of the story.
