above all-the longhouse was belonged to grandmother sisters clan group-& nwomen/children all belonged to the clan- not to a man- the women also owned the communal farms- the men were guests of their wives mothers-men were gone hunting,trading,warring,sporting etc-much like today-but today the women/her children have noone to defend them from the husband or from stranger when hes at work-he cant defend vs 2 men/or in war-so longhouse housing provide safety/selfsufficient job 4 women&her daughters

This is either the Eriehronons or the Wenrohronon dwellings of the Northern part of Pennsylvania. My ancestors lived in these dwellings in Ontario during the 1600's.
