For those people who believe because you are tall you have to swing up and down on an upright angle....take note of 1969 Masters Champion George Archer. Measuring 6 feet 5 and half inches which was tall for a golfer of his era he utilized knee flex beautifully to drop the club into the slot and turn it through to the finish from a nice shallow approach.

Thanks for your reply...
I'm the same height as Mr Archer (6'5" w/ 6'8" arm span), but struggle with early extention (loss of spine angle on the downswing). I'm right on the Shaft Plane taking it back, but bring it down on the Turned Shoulder Plane", and well above the right elbow/forearm plane. My iron are 3/4" over and 2 degrees up.
Would you recommend shorter and flatter irons? I would love to get my downswing on or closer to the elbow plane... will my body sense the change and adjust?

@RollYourRock Make up a 5 iron from an old set and play with it on the range...or make 2 of them...one at your normal length and one at standard...drop the lie down 4 degrees on both and see what happens after a few weeks practice.... your swing learns to mold itself around what you are using...

What are the advantages of a shallow approach?

@RollYourRock less ball dispersion in the shot pattern from swinging more level around and around... Trevino, Hogan amongst others knew this and used flatter lie angle clubs to match that demand...the body gets involved instead of having the raise the hands into impact and stop the shoulders to make room for that raise.
