"Legacy of Obsession" was the initial choreography that inspired today's "LEGACY OF HOPE®" one-woman theatrical program (www.legacyofhope.com) that Susie tours for teen drug and alcohol prevention, guiding youth and families in healthy choices. She is a dancer, actress, author and motivational speaker reaching out to children from alcoholic, drug addicted, neglectful and abusive homes in a wide variety of venues across the US and other countries: school assemblies, community awareness, churches, and conferences for mental health professionals, educators, parents, law enforcement, juvenile hall and more.

"Legacy of Obsession" was inspired by a simple gesture -- the gesture of slapping an arm to "shoot up with drugs" - only, in this case, it symbolized wanting to "shoot up with affection" that was no longer available from an alcoholic, prescription drug, and cocaine addict who was her first husband.

In the world of drug prevention and treatment, it is understood that for every alcoholic/addict, there are 5 to 10 other people getting sick around them -- overwhelmed with worry, obsessed with trying to fix this problem for the one they love. Fear and resentment, anger and rage, rejection and worthlessness, desire and repulsion all co-exist in the spouse of an alcoholic/addict, as Susie experienced.

Watch in this video for the feelings she portrays. "Legacy of Obsession" dance describes the gut-wrenching pain of losing the love of your life to an unrelenting mistress: alcohol and drugs.

NOTE: Susie's first husband overdosed from alcohol, cocaine and Percodan in 1984 at the age of 35. She is currently happily remarried to Ken Vanderlip, Ph.D., partner in the "LEGACY OF HOPE®" outreach.
