  • LMAAAAOOOOOOO!!!HAHAHAHAH! Now that is what i call HILARIOUS!!!His face expressions were incredible!

  • Martha Raye was the only woman Chaplin ever allowed to play comedy with him like this because he trusted her instincts at physical comedy and had confidence in her ability to adlib. She considered this role the highlight of her career.

  • @madman37115 She was really good in this. I thought she was also great in HELLZAPOPPIN, which is much appreciated in France and which I was able to see in a cinema here. She sounded screwy to me but as an actress and comedienne she was about the best, with an incredible agility. I am American and in France now and just saw this movie on DVD from our médiathèque legally last night. It is outstanding and must have been just too advanced for most when it came out.

  • 2:30-2:46 So Cute!!! Thanks for posting.

  • I love that cheeky grin when he almost got caught!

  • Incredible scene!!!! So funny!! And Chaplin is wonderful in it!!! I love him! Yeah I love his face at the end: totally the tramp!

  • Chaplin. King of comedy. This is my fave Chaplin movie.

  • What a hilarious scene this is. I watched this movie for the second time on TCM. Accually, this movie and Limelight which I find to be an intresting movie are truly my only favorite Chaplin movies. Darn it! I'd hoped you would post the rest of the scene where at the end Chaplin goes overboard and says at the last, Where's My Hat? Thank you!

  • You knew he was in trouble when he couldn't kill her off the first time! This scene gets even funnier!

I don't think anyone likes the end, but the fact that Chaplin was brave enough to make his character so impenitent throughout was pioneering. Truly the first great film noir.

  • Hahah, yeah, that classic look of Charlie at the end, his smile XD

But what is he trying, to kill her? ;s with that rock and rope XD hahah
