Stop comparing to Klaus Nomi... This is a song of Purcell, a lot a great opera singer sang it, in all times. Only opera lovers can judge about opera singing exigences.
Matteo have a better "technique vocale" than Klaus Nomi.
But Klaus belongs to the Cold Song, this is an all :)
Try to listen the Andreas Schnoll version. This is one of the best interpretation of The Cold song.

I absolutely agree!
I love Klaus Nomi as a "Gesamtkunstwerk", but his quality as a singer is definitely overrated.
