We are matter, and matter is made of atoms, and atoms are made up of balls.
As a wise man once said, "My small balls are made of smaller balls made up of even smaller balls with even smaller balls orbiting the second-mentioned smaller balls." He had too much to drink.

I really wish you'd gone to Summer in the City. It would be fasinating to talk to you about all this.

@iamthealterego Watts & Merton lead me to realize that there was something *more* in the universe. I found that 'more' to be the divine.

@Maddog53 I never thought of how it reflects upon war but you're right. That's a wonderful new perspective :)

@twonk12 Thank you very much, that means a lot :)
Maybe it's just me, but I feel a great sense of belonging where I am, here in Chicago, with my wife, in grad school, on YouTube, talking to other YouTubers, and all the other minutiae of my life.
Although we are all connected by the matter than made the universe, there is a natural disconnect in the sense that we need to stay alive and discover what is important to us for our own sake, and not for others.

@IJethrobot I suppose we are disconnected in the sense that you can see the woods and the trees. It's all connected and is all part of the same entity, but each part is in its own way unique, and I think that just adds to the beauty. I think the common belief is that a lot of people simply cannot see the woods for the trees

In my youth (around your age) I read Watts. Some Merton as well. It lead me to become a theist.
I'm an animist. Believing that all things have a spiritual essence.
As Sagan said, 'We are made of star-stuff'.

@tetsubo57 Personally I don't see where the jump to animism/theism would occur, but I can certainly see where you're coming from
