Our video starts near Peoria as we caught back up to the storm. I got to say...Peoria really dodged a bullet on this one! About the time we entered Peoria, a tornado emergency was issued for them (a first in IL history). As you'll see from our video, we had a rapidly rotating wall cloud right over the metropolitan area. Its lucky nothing dropped in the town!

We continued northeast away from Peoria, to near Washington. About the time we approach Washington a confirmed tornado was reported to the northwest of town. Our freeze frames show sure enough, there was at least a very large wall cloud. On the second one, there may be a tornado there. The freeze-framing was made difficult due to the few amount of lightning strikes.

The end of our video is in Atlanta, IL as we were trying to make our way home. The sirens started going off for brief rain wrapped tornadoes in the squall line which had caught up to us. Luckily nothing touched down close to us, but was still a little nerve-racking to say the least.

Fun chase but was unfortunate to hear about the damage in Elmwood, IL and Dwight, IL. More videos from other chases coming soon

  • 4:19 The Wall Cloud is clearly visible and large and very low to the ground. If it was producing, it would have been in dead center of that cloud but it doesn't look like it in the freeze frame.

  • @stormmoss Can't tell from my video...but there was a confirmed tornado on the ground at the time of that shot. I did a timestamp to check to be sure...so I probably caught it on video. Just too dark for my camera to catch very well

  • Notice the structure a little bit at 3:45. Almost looks like a Mothership Structure. Amazing!

  • @stormmoss I would have LOVED to see this thing in daylight. Would have likely seen some amazing storm structure!

  • @MIDSCAR1 what kind of sirens are those??

  • @MIDSCAR1 *GULP*! I was looking carefully for any signs of a power arc. Didn't see it

  • @MIDSCAR1 That is the big thing about the Supercell I was on too. Would have seen insane mothership structure with it as well!

  • 4:05 looks like the lowered cloud base/Wall is on the far Left

  • Around 2:56 almost looks like a funnel trying to arc out the back side of the wall cloud but difficult to tell due to the rain and darkness setting in

  • Nice wall cloud starting at 1:20
