My HD recently failed after only 14 months. (Seagate Barracuda btw)

I ended up migrating my data to a new HD (Western Digital) and migrating my XP system volume to a new 80GB Intel X25 SSD.

Please note this is a garden-variety machine built in 2004. This is not a fresh OS install - you're seeing a 6-year old build of XP with a full load of apps, utilities, and various system crap, migrated to SSD. No defragging, no optimization.

The scary part is, due to motherboard limitations, the drive is running @ SATA 1.5 in IDE emulation mode... so theoretically this drive could be much much much faster!

Enjoy!

  • Since Windows extists, the HD always was the bottleneck. Many people bought and still buy new pcs just because the HD is to slow. They wouldn't need a fully new PC, an SSD would be cheaper and faster, because they don't need "multi core" CPUs and Hi End graphics for just using Office and Internet...

But they don't believe it... until...

  • I got frightened by the sound at 1:18... Shame on you :D

  • 0:52 floppy disk(s) fail (40) :P

LOL, enable Kiss My Ass in your BIOS under FDD options...

    xD

  • my machine starts up that fast with a normal Hard drive but then I am using Linux :)

I would still use a SSD for system files but unfortunately with a laptop there isn't room inside for both.

  • thumbs if this made you horny

  • did anyone else think that they heard their cat meowing at 1:18?

  • What the specifications of this motherboard?

  • If this drive worked fo fast even on the motherboard without SATA, with Sata to IDE converter, then i think that my new PC with Socket AM3 Athlon II X4 640 3100 MHz (Quad Core(, 4 Gb RAM DDR3 (dual channel) and builtin SATA III 600 MBit interface will fly to space enviroment.

And also because the main OS is Windows XP which works very fast even on usually SATA2 250 Gb Western Digital HDD.

  • @pitbully666 You can pick up quality SSD's for less than $100.

  • I got single 3TB HDD in mah pc
