A friend of mine gave me Douglas DC-3 Take-off & Landing Challenge to do in FS2004. It requires me to Take-off and Land a Fully Loaded DC-3 in/out of Zim (NH17), which is a 1500ft Grass Strip. The weather was an option to have. Sorry I still haven't been able to fix the sound problem.

  • use les pressure on the rudder xD

  • for an airplane that doesn't want to slow down that much for a very short field landing with no reverse prop like the turbo-prop version? Not possible for this landing. I found another way which is a combination of Slip and Skid using the rudder and differential power to bring it in. it took me several times to do this before i got it down. it's not as easy as it looks. Deffinatly not possible in real life because it is very risky to do that. Try it out and see for yourself on FS2004 or FSX.

  • You need to get that tail wheel off the ground on the take-off roll.

  • Yup i know, it's easier to say than to be done on that short short of a runway.

  • That's why 3's aren't STOL aircraft.

  • okay ill accept your challenge :-D littler nervous now xD

  • Just barely cleared the trees on takeoff, very nice. Radial engines rock, I'm suprised they aren't equipping modern planes with them.

  • oh thanks for the info!

  • It was actually to tell you the truth, Part Sideslip part Knife Edging and part differential power to control desent and airspeed so I could get her down after the "Ground Obsticals" and on that short runway.

  • Isn't that called a sideslip? i think it is
