TEXT: McCain Promised a New Kind of Campaign...

MCCAIN: "We need to have change in America. We need to do things differently. I want to prove to you that I will wage a respectful campaign. [McCain Town Hall, Thomasville, AL, 4/21/08]

TEXT: ...But Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures.

HAGEL: "Yeah, I think John is treading on some very thin ground here when he impugns motives and when we start to get into 'you're less patriotic than me, I'm more patriotic.'" [CBS Face the Nation, 7/27/08]

QUESTION: "Joe Klein, writing in Time Magazine, says 'This is the ninth presidential campaign I've covered. I can't remember a more scurrilous statement by a major party candidate. It smacks of desperation.' Those are pretty strong words from Joe Klein, whom you obviously know." [CNN Late Edition, 7/27/08]

QUESTION: "You admit, that's a pretty stunning charge." [MSNBC, Morning Joe, 7/30/08]

  • Hasn't changed/only gotten worse since this was first posted.

Fearmongering, negativity, smears, divisiveness and horking up LONG-disproved internet legends and innuendos about Obama. (Won't be surprised if Rev. Wright is brought up again.) Palin (today 10/5) is bringing up whathisname Ayers, in a stump speech in Nebraska, while McCain is practicing debating, in Sedona. You can almost smell the flop-sweat.

    Desperation, it's an un-pretty thing.

  • Wow, way to cite the New York Times twice, how persuasive.

What intellectual lightweights do you have writing this type?

  • Also it's important to remember that Obama built his entire campaign on a vague and rarely defined idea - "CHANGE", and almost constantly compares himself to other politicians in Washington. I don't necessarily see anything wrong with Obama setting himself apart (though he IS a politican, don't be fooled), and I don't see anything wrong with McCain setting himself apart from Obama by pointing out their differences, which are very very distinct.

  • How o you really feel about his statements about north korea and iran not being threats because they are tiny, or that we will get the same economic impact as domestic drilling by putting air in our tires an getting a tuneup? Now days later he is considering domestic drilling?

  • McCain talks about the issues all the time, and any politician is going to point out the distinctions between him and his opponent.

I have many more reasons I don't see Obama being a suitable president - I was pointing out his arrogance. A large portion of his following is comprised of uninformed people shouting the empty banter of "change" but many have no idea what he really plans to change about our country.

  • Oh, he changed the pres. seal, did he? And removed the flag from his plane, eh?

C'mon...is that all the Obama bashers have? Lies, fears and smears?

There's nothing unusual about talking about your opponent. But when McCain cries about how much coverage Obama is getting and then proceeds to talk about Obama more than anyone else, it's kind of sad.

How about McCain talks about issues that matter instead of launching these childish attacks? With McCain, it's the Trashtalk Express 24/7.

  • How is this a spin? Obama has changed the presidential seal, removed the flag from his plane... Yet McCain compares him to an international celebrity and suddenly it's a low blow?

And if you think it's unusual for a Politician to talk about his opponent you must not have watched many campaign videos. : )

  • Nice try. Is this the new lie, er, I mean, spin? McCain can just say/do whatever he's told, like making an ad imposing Obama's face on a $100 bill, and Obama's not allowed to respond to it?

Sorry, but I think if McCain had anything to offer, his supporters would talk about that and not lie about Obama so much - I support Obama, and know very well where he stands on issues, and I swear McCain talks about Obama more than me!
