very true,when i first moved to Germany,thats all that people ask all the time,what side are you on what side,,,,after a while a used to wind them up by telling them i was a hit man for the ira,,,,that shut them up,or say my house was right on the boarder,living is in the north and my bedroom in in the south,,

@1276epr That's why I kind of envy the US in those regards. Police here should be allowed to be harder. Look in the US, they have LRAD or tear gas (they use it more).
Got nothing against demonstrations but today...it mostly (depending on topic / initiators) ends in violence. Alcohol plays a big role too. The background then is borderline political at best. It's really sad.
Before things get out of hand, police should become harder. It's like cancer, a threat to democracy.

@ausssiepride that's what I am wondering. As much absurd chaos and crime as we have here in the States---armed robberies, shootings, murders, assaults---this type of street mob rule would never be tolerated here. It would never happen here, at least not since the 1960s, or if it did, it would not be allowed to re-occur.

@soledweller when they riot over here,the police should kick the shit out of them,i have been out of belfast for 18ys when i go back to visit it depresses me,,,they should ban the marches and the bone fires,,,the young ones here are thick,i have never considered myself protestant or catholic,,,i am an indavidual without a lable,,,
