Could you be emotionally detached at work and not know it? Sure, if you’re detached. There’s a party in your head and you’re not invited. slapCompany

This interview format freaks me out a little, as it's the same style I've seen Hari Krishna gurus employ. One guy is the designated questioner and offers uncritical and often fawning questions to the guru who begins each answer by repeating the wording of the question and occasionally adding things like 'ah... that is a good question'. Goleman isn't a 'charlatan' per se, but his contribution to psychology is giving a name to a pre-existing concept, nothing more.

Also, DG is verbally gifted, there is no question. But I'm afraid he's a bit of a charlatan.
Virtually all fo the things he's talking about have been around for a long, long time. They were once called The Humanities. They were the basic equipment of the learned gentleman. They more clinical concepts have also been around for a long time, from Transactionalism, to Expectational Set Theory to the New Look in Perception Theory, etc. All of his concepts can be found in books on those subjects.

These are some seriously embarrassign comments that Goleman is going to regret, if he doesn't already. And if he doesn't, it's because he can peddle his wares and remain calm for the same reason BO can. He's a psychopath. Meaning he's incapable of applying the rules he espouses to himself and doesn't have a conscience about it.
If people think that that cannot happen with a man who makes a name for himself talking about EQ then they are incurably naive.

Daniel Goleman is genius.
-
I love Goleman, his books about social and emotional intelligence are among my favorite.
-
What's with all the hand movements by Goleman? He's just a democrat lackey boy.
-
Obama is a sociopath. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
-
Some people can remain calm because they are oblivious to what is going on…
Great video !!!

Daniel Goleman is really good at what he does. He's always straight to the point and explains this concept of emotional and social intelligence in a way people can understand.. and relate to.
