This is an excerpt from the BBC's 6 part TV series Auschwitz: The Nazis & the 'Final Solution'

The first episode was aired on BBC 2 on Tuesday the 11th of January 2005 at 9.00pm (GMT).

This incredible series gave an in-depth and very emotional insight into the concentration camps of Auschwitz and the Nazis mass genocide of the Jews.

----

During World War II Slovakia were strong allies of the Nazi's.

When the Nazis asked Slovakia for forced labourers, 20,000 Jews and their families were handed over.

However in early 1942 the Nazis lacked the human extermination capacity, so refused to take any Jews from Slovakia who couldnt work.

Shockingly Slovakia made a deal to pay the Nazis to take their Jews away thus continuing their deportation and extermination.

----

The nationalist and anti-semitic Hlinka Guards tormented Slovak Jews and actively participated in their removal and deportation to Auschwitz.

Many of the Hlinka Guards made a comfortable future for themselves by taking belongings and property belonging to the Jews they deported to Auschwitz.

----

After the war had ended, the few Slovak Jews that had survived made their way back to their homes.

Many arrived only to find that their homes and property had been taken and would never be returned to them.

  • @D12Detoxx - watch "Slovakia's participation in the deportation of Slovak Jews to Auschwitz in WWII - Part 2" and talk to a few old people in your country. True, the soviets and a few people with influence altered the figures of those who died. That doesn't take away from the fact that millions died with no voice, no chance to have their views represented, no chance of justice - men women and children. The fact that you choose to ignore this or are just plain ignorant are shameful.
