I spent almost 4 years on board the cutter southwind 280. 1966-70 4x in the arctic 2x palmer station Antarctica. Once at mcmurdo. Nice liberty place down south America .

Holy cow what a noisy tin can she is! I spent two years on the Polar Sea, we went through several feet of new hard ice day in and day out near Thule up north and McMurdo down south and the racket was never that obnoxious. The slush against the hull put me soundly to sleep every time I hit the rack. It was the good life.
